Must-see places

Here is a selection of emblematic places, proposed by our team of experts of the Gulf of Morbihan to enhance your trip ….
1 – The city center of Vannes
Meet Vannes and his wife during a walk in the city of the Venetians. You will come across the Saint-Pierre Cathedral, the half-timbered houses, the Fine Arts Museum, the “Halle des Lices” and the market stalls on Wednesday and Saturday morning.

2 – The beaches of the Rhuys peninsula
Opt for the long stretches of sand facing the Atlantic or a more intimate cove on the Gulf side. A gulf that deserves another day on board a boat to see the islands and islets that are hidden there.

3 – A CRUISE IN THE GULF OF MORBIHAN
Set course for the islands. The Ile aux Moines for those who love long hikes and cycling, and the Ile d’Arz for a mid-day excursion (or more if you like). If however you are more farniente, the one as the other offer beaches with a water 2° warmer than the beaches of the Atlantic! Cruises to let you count the islands and tell the legends of the Gulf or direct crossings to the island of your heart … the choice is yours!

4 – A HIKE AROUND THE GULF
A successful vacation rhymes with a full backpack? You won’t be disappointed, because the Gulf offers a hiking circuit that has exhausted many! Feeling up to the challenge? We have a map to help you find lodging, a paper map to find your way, a guide full of anecdotes to shine on the trails and also good addresses of local producers because the effort and the sea air increase tenfold your appetite!

5 – GO UP TO THE GULF BALCONIES
In the land of the Gulf Balconies (Landes de Lanvaux), go for a hike between hedgerows and forests, in search of old chapels, their banner crosses and fountains eaten by time. Search patiently for the old megalithic monuments still standing in the countryside or under the cover of the woods and do a trail.

6 – Taste oysters from Brittany
Stop at an oyster farm and gobble up some oysters raised in the Gulf of Morbihan while soaking up the panoramic views celebrating the ever-changing marriage of sea and land.

7 – VISIT LOCAL PRODUCERS
Succumb to local specialties: certainly the traditional kouign aman that you can find in any bakery, but also the Gochtial, the Tome de Rhuys, the artisanal smoking of salmon, the ciders of the Gulf…
